Analysts may want to add results to a batch of samples, or upload sample results from an instrument. The Sample Batch feature in LIMS-plus v5 allows these tasks to be accomplished in an efficient manner.
Add a Batch of Samples
To create a batch of samples, open the Analysis menu and select Sample Batch.
Click the Add Sample Batch button.
Sample Batch Wizard
In the Sample Batch Wizard (Add Sample Batch window), enter at least:
- A Name for the sample batch (1). The application may automatically generate a Name, but it can be overwritten.
- The Examination Type (2).
Click Get Item (3) to return the list of items that meet the entered criteria.
Other information may be entered to better filter the samples returned. This information can include the analyst that the Request for examination is currently Assigned To and/or the Evidence Type (4).
To select additional evidence using a manual or barcode search, in the Select Evidence area (5), enter an Evidence number or type, or scan an Evidence or batch barcode.
To add controls to the batch, type in the position number for the control (6) and then scan the Control barcode of a control created in the Consumables Inventory Management Module (CIMM).
Place a checkmark in the checkbox next to the Evidence items in the list (7) that are to be added to the sample batch.
Click the Next button (8).
To reassign the Sample Batch at this time, select a different analyst from the Assigned To picklist (1). To print a barcode for this batch, click the Barcode icon (2). Otherwise, simply click the Finish button (3) to create the batch.
NOTE: Clicking Finish will create the batch. It will not process these Requests.
Batch Saved Confirmation
To process the batch immediately click Yes in the Batch Saved confirmation dialog box. To process the batch later, click No.
Sample Batch List
The currently incomplete batches will be shown in the Sample Batch grid list. To begin processing a batch, select the Process Batch icon for the specific batch to be processed.
Process Sample Batch
The user may select an Instrument (1) and a File to upload (2) in order to auto-upload results from a configured instrument.
To manually enter results, left-click each item and select Add Result (3) from the menu.
The user can add results to each item in the list.
Once results have been entered, they will appear in the grid below and indented from the item to which they apply. Once all results have been entered for the batch, click the Finish button (4).
Export or Print the List of Sample Batches
To export the list of Sample batches to HTML or Excel, or to print the list, click on the Export icon. (To export or print the list of batches that have already been processed, place a checkmark in the Show Processed checkbox).
The list of Sample batches will appear in HTML format on a separate web page. From there, click the Print button to print the list, or click the Export to Excel button to perform that task. If the Export to Excel feature is used and the user has Excel installed on the computer, there will be an option to open the list in Excel. Otherwise, the file can be saved as an XMLReport.csv file.
