How do I configure picklists in LIMS-plus v5?

A picklist is a drop-down list configured specifically for the Laboratory. Values need to be entered before they can appear on picklists. One example is provided here but all of the picklists function in a similar manner.

Access the Picklist to be Configured or Edited


From the Admin menu, open the Demographic submenu and then select the picklist to be configured or edited from the list of menu items.

Access the Activity Type Picklist


The Activity Type picklist is accessed from the Activity submenu (open the Admin menu, hover the pointer over Activity to open the submenu, and select Activity Type).


To add a new Activity Type to the picklist, click the Add Activity Type button (1).

To edit an existing Activity Type, click the Edit icon (2) next to the Activity Type in the grid list. The Edit Activity Type window will open (3). In this window, the Activity Type name can be edited and the Status can be changed from Active to Inactive (or from Inactive to Active). Click the Save button when finished editing the Activity Type.

Edit Picklist Values


To add a new value to the picklist, click the Add [list name] button (1). In this example, click the Add City button (1).

To edit a value, click the Edit icon (2) for the specific value on the grid list. In the Edit window, make the necessary changes and click Save.

To delete (completely remove) a value from the picklist, click the Delete icon (3) and then click Yes in the confirmation box.

Deactivate a Value


Some picklist values can be set to Inactive, where they will still exist but will no longer appear on the picklist for that category.

Click the Edit icon for the specific value on the grid list.

From the Status list, select Inactive.

Click Save.
